KYMA

Kýma — κύμα — means “wave” in Greek, representing the propagation of sound, emotion and ideas: like a wave that reaches and transforms whoever receives it. That image gave the ensemble its name when it was created as a professional vocal ensemble, initially formed by 8 and, in a second phase, 12 soloists. KYMA's first project was created to serve as host choir for the RAMOS Festival, welcoming international conductors and choirs to Cascais. Here, every singer brings autonomy, preparation, versatility and individual responsibility to build a collective instrument capable of working across different aesthetics and professional contexts, with repertoire, projects and collaborations of high artistic demand.
