Qūórum

Quorum comes from the Latin quorum, “of whom” — the genitive plural of qui. The word has a very concrete history: in 15th-century English courts, the documents appointing justices of the peace contained the formula quorum vos... unum esse volumus — “of whom we require one of you to be present”. That's how the idea was born that certain people are indispensable for something to happen at all. Something similar happens in a chamber choir: with fewer voices, there's nowhere for detail to hide. Every entrance, every breath, every tuning choice and every individual intention immediately changes the collective result. Qūórum is, for that reason, a space for singers looking for choral work with greater detail, autonomy and responsibility. Precision, listening, balance, demanding repertoire and building a distinct sound identity sit at the centre of the work. In a large choir, every voice matters. Here, every voice can change everything.
